專案 Projects

1. Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) Signal Analysis for Enhanced Earthquake Early Warning Systems (by Frederick Phoa Research Group):

In this project, we analyze a segment of DAS signal data near the Milun Fault. The data is divided into five distinct parts: seaside highway, 1st well, city, 2nd well, and inner highway. Utilizing advanced techniques in time series analysis and signal calibration, our objective is to detect P-waves generated by oceanic earthquakes earlier and more accurately than the current alert system.

2. Spatial-Temporal Analysis of Earthquake Occurrences (by Frederick Phoa Research Group):

This project focuses on classifying and clustering all historical earthquakes in Taiwan based on their longitudes, latitudes, depths, occurrence times, and magnitudes. The first four quantities are used for 4-dimensional spatial-temporal clustering, while magnitudes serve as hierarchical pivots and benchmarks. Our aim is to identify correlations among earthquakes using available data, offering an alternative perspective to the traditional definitions of mainshocks, foreshocks, and aftershocks provided by expert knowledge.
